BIDS is a web application where the Office of Background Investigations (OBI) process background check requests for child welfare purposes, childcare employment, DHS employees, and agency partners. The application is only accessible to DHS employees with access and review.
BIDS is the active application. The BIDS Enterprise Web Application is specifically for requesting a background check for the general public. Criminal History Review Results Page (CHRRP) is an externally available portal for people requesting background checks to access results. CHRRP acts as the frontend view for the BIDS system for results whereas the Enterprise Web Application is specifically for requesting the check.
BIDS receives data from CCMASS. Results are housed in a BIDS server location. Users are logging into a specific page via CHRRP to see their specific results that they have access to. BIDS sends an email to the person requesting the background check.
Accessible internally only using BIDS. Only DHS employees can access the BIDS system via the DHS network (or VPN). Amy grants access to BIDS to state employees with proper permissions administered through Active Directory. Access to the portal for childcare programs is provided after a paper application.
Do you need to be on the VPN (ZScaler) to access this app outside of the office?: Yes
